What are the benefits of these technologies to society? Be specific. Is there a "dark side"? Make sure to include your opinion of the way these technologies might evolve in the future

A way that you can use social networking in the corporate world is LinkedIn, it is a platform you can use to post jobs, resumes, and information about a company. Companies can even use Facebook to post a job, I actually got a internship by looking on Facebook and searching "media jobs". There are even groups that allow you to interact with people in the field you want to be in to help you network and find jobs. Funny how you can actually do stuff that is more then watch cat videos on Facebook and actually use this to your advantage. But along with the good, there are some precautions that you should take with using social media. Yes it is nice to share pictures from your family vacations with all of your Facebook friends but, exactly who else can see your post? In the reading "Who Cares about Facebook Privacy" I read "Over all, our data show that far from being nonchalant and unconcerned about privacy matters" this is starting with the younger generations that don't care who sees but what they don't know is jobs are going to look back on this post and see what kind of candidate they are looking at.
Of course there are benefits of these technologies used for social networking, keeping in touch with friends, learning more about news, following your favorite athlete. Like I mentioned before, finding a job or even having a job find you. Look at this classes twitter, we are using social networking to do school work. But there is a dark side, and that is the negligence of posting without knowing who is watching, or just being young and posting silly things. In the reading "Facebook Privacy is So Confusing Even the Zuckerberg Family Photo Isn't Private" we read about how confusing this privacy truly is. "And if Facebook's privacy settings are too confusing for a Zuckerberg, how are the rest of us ever supposed to post anything that's truly, completely private?" It is something to think about the future, Facebook has been out for long enough that these mistakes should not happen. I would hope that in the near future Facebook evolves to not have glitches in their privacy and people can post without worry of who will see.
